Whole Number Part
The complete units. In 2½, the whole number is 2.

Fraction Part
The remaining part less than 1. In 2½, the fraction is ½.

Where Do We Use Mixed Numbers?

🍕Cooking: "Add 1½ cups of flour"
📏Measurements: "The board is 5¾ feet long"

📐Construction: "Cut the pipe to 3⅜ inches"

  • A mixed number is always greater than 1
